Strength Training

Strength Training is a very important part of losing body fat. Strength training, working out, lifting weights all the same thing. When you build strength you build muscle. When you have more muscle tone your body will lose fat. More muscle tone can help the body boost it's metabolism and then lose body fat more quickly.

So if you add strength training into your daily exercise routine you will have an over all better health and physique.

Dont Lose Faith in Yourself

I remembered reading many years ago from a Dear Ann Landers coloumn about not losing faith in yourself. The article said in my own words "No matter how many bumps in life you may travel on never give up, eventually the road will smooth out."

It took me forever to find this article because I clipped it and saved it and forgot where I put it. After reading it again I thought I would share.

It is a list of failures from famous people. I hope this list motivates you to over come your bumpy road in life.  Whether it is finding a job, starting a business, or as simple as losing weight.

Failure List

"- Albert Einstein was four years old before he could speak.

- Isaac Newton did poorly in grade school and was considered "unpromising"

- Beethoven's music teacher once said "As a composer, he is hopeless"

- When Thomas edison was a young man, his teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything. He was counseled to go into a field where he might succeed by virtue of his pleasant personality.

- Winston Churchhill failed the sixth grade and had to repeat it because he did not complete the promotion test.

- F.W. Woolworth got a job in a dry goods store when he was 21, but his employer would not permit him to wait on customers because he "didnt have enough sense to close a sale"

- A newspaper editor fired Walt Disney because "he lacked imagination and had no good ideas"

- Michael Jordan and Bob Cousy was cut from their high school Basket ball team.

- Babe Ruth struck out 1300 times (a major league record)

A person may make mistakes, but is not a failure until he or she starts blaming someone else. We must believe in ourselves and somewhere along the road of life we must meet someone who sees greatness in us, expects it from us, and lets us know it."

The golden key to success is that person we meet is ourself. If you are a failure in something then at some point in your life you told yourself that.

Genetic (un)certainties

Certain genetic conditions can predispose people to having problems controlling their weight, but don’t let fears of a family history of being overweight stop you from trying to lose weight. Many genetic predispositions are more risk factors than certainties.

If your parents, and grand parents are overweight then you have a higher risk of being overweight. This however does not determine how you will look. When speaking about genetics, it is a map of how you should look if you do nothing about it. If your family tree has more than one large limb then you will have to work a little harder. 

Regardless you do not have to be like your parents or grand parents. Dont give up on yourself, work harder and smarter, dont diet change the way you eat, find an exercise program the is best for you, and always stay motivated.

The formula for weight loss is simple: Energy expenditure must exceed energy intake. The calories you burn in activity and in maintaining basic bodily functions must exceed the calories you consume as food. While the formula is simple, however, putting it into practice generally requires hard work.

Given how difficult it can be to lose weight and keep it off, it’s easy to be tempted by the latest diet book or television infomercial promising fast, easy weight loss if we eat (or don’t eat) certain foods or if we use a certain product. But while some of these methods or products may bring about short-term weight loss, few work over the long term, and some are even dangerously unhealthy. Indeed, when researchers examine which methods really bring about safe, permanent weight loss, the best way to lose weight still appears to be the tried-and-true recommendation to eat less and exercise more.
